If you plant more than one variety per field or more than one crop per field, you can set this under the field configuration in Farm Planning. This allows you to designate a Primary and Secondary crop to your field!

Primary Crop

  • Crop harvested in that season

Secondary Crop

  • Cover crops / under-sown crops / pasture blends

  • Manage re-planting activities

Entering a secondary crop will allow you to tie the costs of planting that crop to the field. However, the field acreage will be tied to the primary crop.

If you are growing two different primary crops in same field, another option to designate that is to split field boundaries.

This article will walk through the best way to set your field configuration for a field with multiple varieties, and a field that has a primary crop with a cover crop, under-sown crop, or pasture blend!

Adding Multiple Varieties to a Field:

1. Navigate to Planning > Farm Planning on the Agworld website

2. Click on a field > click Create Field Plan, or click Edit next to Field Configuration to edit an existing plan

3. Enter in your Primary Crop and select the first variety

4. Enter in your Primary Crop a second time, and select the second variety. Repeat this step till all varieties are added!

Note: Agworld will automatically split the acreage by variety proportionally but this can be changed by adjusting the field area - this will automatically update the percentages accordingly.

Adding Pasture Blends / Under-sown / Cover Crops to a Field:

1. Navigate to Planning > Farm Planning on the Agworld website

2. Click on a field > click Create Field Plan, or click Edit next to Field Configuration to edit an existing plan

3. Enter in your Primary Crop and select the first variety

4. Enter in your Secondary Crop

5. Click Save

Now you are ready to create a seeding activity in the form of a plan, recommendation, work order, or actual! Click the link below to get started!

Note: If there is a seeding activity in the plan, this will override the Field Configuration. To make changes, click the hyperlink that will take you to the planting activity to make necessary adjustments. This will then update the field configuration.
