Renaming Controller Files When Downloading or Sending Prescriptions
You can rename controller files in Semios either when downloading a prescription or when sending it to a machine (John Deere, Slingshot, etc.). Renaming makes it easier for applicators to identify the correct file on their monitors.
Follow the steps below to use both methods.
✅ Rename a Controller File When Downloading
You can rename individual prescriptions at the moment you download them from the Workflow → Prescriptions page.
1. Open the Workflow Prescriptions page
Go to Workflow in the left menu.
Select Prescriptions.
2. Approve the prescription
Any approved prescription can be downloaded.
Open a prescription.
Set the Input (e.g., DAP).
Change its status to Approved.
3. Download and rename the file
Click Download on the approved prescription.
Once processing is complete, a naming box will appear.
Replace the default file name (grower–farm–field–input) with something meaningful—for example:
RX_DAP_HomeFieldDAP_2024_SouthField
Click Download.
The renamed file will be exported inside the ZIP folder using your updated name.
✅ Rename a Controller File When Sending to a Machine
You can also rename prescriptions at the time you send them to a John Deere display or Case/Slingshot monitor.
1. Open a converted prescription
You must use a prescription that’s already been converted.
Select the prescription.
Click Send to….
2. Rename the file before sending
When sending to John Deere:
The name field allows up to 20 characters due to Deere display limits.
Choose a short, clear name such as:
DAP-RX-04Job12-NField2024DAP-Home
3. Select machine and send
Choose the target machine.
Click Send.
The applicator will see your updated file name directly on the in-cab monitor, making it easy to choose the correct prescription.
👥 Sending a Batch of Prescriptions
When sending multiple prescriptions at once, you can rename each file individually during the send process. This helps keep files organized and easy for applicators to identify in the field.
